Seacamp is seeking enthusiastic, skilled marine educators to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards through hands-on science, field experiences, and outdoor learning in the Florida Keys. We are currently looking to fill positions for Summer 2026.

**Position Overview
**

Science Instructors are responsible for delivering engaging marine science and outdoor education programs while ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive camp experience of all participants. This role combines teaching, leadership, boating, and mentorship in a dynamic coastal environment.

**What You’ll Do
**

  • Teach hands-on marine science and outdoor education programs through labs, field trips, discussions, and presentations

  • Lead snorkeling, boating, and field-based learning experiences in local marine environments

  • Help teach SCUBA courses and Open Water dives, gaining valuable instructional experience while logging time underwater on Florida Keys reefs.

  • Mentor and supervise campers, helping them adjust to camp life and build positive peer relationships

  • Serve as a cabin leader for a small group of campers (summer program)

  • Coordinate and support visiting school groups, including orientation, scheduling, and daily activities

  • Maintain scientific labs, equipment, and field gear in safe, functional condition

  • Uphold Seacamp’s conservation, safety, and operational standards

  • Actively participate in staff training, camp events, and community responsibilities

  • Contribute to a collaborative, professional, and supportive camp environment

**Leadership & Responsibility
**

  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of campers, staff, and guests at all times

  • Supervise participants during meals, clean-up, free time, evening programs, and dorm hours

  • Operate boats and vehicles in accordance with USCG and Seacamp policies (training provided)

  • Take ownership of an assigned area of camp responsibility (e.g., lab equipment, science resources, unit leadership)

**Qualifications
**

  • Minimum age: 21

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine science, environmental science, outdoor education, or related field

  • Teaching or instructional experience preferred (camp, classroom, or field-based)

  • Experience working with youth in group settings

  • Ability to lead and actively participate in rigorous outdoor activities

  • High level of enthusiasm, professionalism, and leadership

**Certifications (Required or Provided During Training)
**

  • American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid

  • Emergency Oxygen & When Help Is Delayed

  • SCUBA, Skin Diving Leadership, or Rescue Diver 

  • Florida Safe Boating Course

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with good driving record
