About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Purser Catering Officer to join our team supporting world-class marine research. This pivotal role ensures the smooth and efficient management of shipboard administrative, financial, and catering operations, directly contributing to crew welfare and operational readiness. Acting as the link between ship and shore teams, you will uphold the highest standards of service and compliance with maritime regulations.
About you
You are an experienced maritime professional with a strong background in administration and catering operations. Highly organised and proactive, you thrive in dynamic environments and can lead a team with confidence and clarity. You have excellent problem-solving skills, strong IT proficiency, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
You hold essential certifications, including STCW 2010 basic training, Health & Hygiene certification, and Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD). A valid ENG1 medical certificate, passport, and discharge book are a must. You’re comfortable working away from home for extended periods and can adapt to challenging seagoing conditions.
Your leadership style is collaborative and decisive, and you take pride in delivering exceptional service standards. Experience on scientific research vessels or knowledge of purchasing systems is desirable, but your enthusiasm for supporting marine science and commitment to safety and compliance is paramount.
Hours of Work:
Seagoing tours of duty will normally encompass at least two full scientific expeditions, or a minimum of two months although these tour periods may vary depending on the ship's operational programme. Leave is earnt at the annual rate of 324 days for each year served onboard and accrues at the rate of 27 days for each calendar month of service onboard.
