Role

Natel Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Controller. The Corporate Controller will be located at the company’s HQ, the former Navy Base in Alameda, CA, or could alternatively work from home anywhere in the U.S. This role will be involved in both corporate and project accounting and will report to our Chief Financial Officer. This position will give you international exposure.

If you have six or more years of experience, have a CPA, and either public accounting, tech and/or engineering industry experience, this could be the role for you!

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all of the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing.

  • Reconcile accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

  • Review transaction coding and financial statements for accuracy, legal compliance and alignment to budgeted expense coding.

  • Cash and multi-year financial planning.

  • Internal lead for annual financial audit and grants audit audits.

  • Utilize NetSuite’s solution portfolio to enhance accountability at HoldCo, ProjectCo, and subsidiary level.

  • IInternal AR and AP planning and oversight with major business units under the NetSuite services umbrella.

  • Oversee accounting for one major office and various hydropower project site locations.

  • Collaborate with leadership to assess and make important financial decisions

  • Prepare financial documents such as business reports, financial forecasts, and statements to understand the financial state of the business

  • Maintain up to date knowledge on the financial market to understand how to maximize profits and find new expansion areas

  • Prepare the company financials according to US GAAP standards to meet legal requirements and keep the financial state of the company in good standing

  • Ensure the company complies with financial regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from an accredited college or university in a work-related discipline or field. A Master’s Degree (M.A.) in Accounting is a plus.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • A minimum of six years professional experience as a Controller.

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations, and working knowledge of international finance

  • Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite, financial analytics & scores, and management forecasts is mandatory.

  • Industry experience in renewable) energy, technology, or engineering business is preferred

  • Demonstrated people skills and ability to cultivate and maintain relationships at all levels.

  • Annual Internal Audit experience preferred.

  • Comfortable working in a changing and very dynamic start-up like environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, market location, business needs, other compensation components, and/or market demands. The starting base salary range for this role is $100-$150K. This range may be modified in the future.

Location

Remote with option of being based in Alameda, CA. We conduct business using technologies like Slack and video conferencing. We do an annual in-person trip to work, bond, and celebrate our successes.
