A message from Monterey Collaborative Co-Chair Erika Delemarre:
I’m excited to share that California State Parks’ Monterey District has flown a new Interpreter I position focused on marine protected areas (MPAs)! In State Parks, informal educators are called “interpreters” so no specialty languages are required, but are always appreciated.
If you love the coast and ocean and want to inspire coastal conservation in K-12 students and coastal park visitors, this position could be a great fit for you. This position will “float the coast” in Monterey County, working between several coastal state park units adjacent to MPAs between Monterey Bay and Big Sur. See attached duty statement for more information. Applicants will need to take the State Park Interpreter I exam to pre-qualify prior to applying. The exam is a self-assessment of your educational and work experience that applies to the position. This position is “permanent intermittent” (approx. 30-hrs per week).
🦈The deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 9. 🦀
If you have any questions about this position, please reach out to hiring manager Monterey District Interpretive Coordinator Lisa Bradford at Lisa.Bradford[at]parks.ca.gov. If you have specific questions about what State Parks’ statewide MPA Outreach and Education Project entails, feel free to reach out to Erika Delemarre at Erika.Delemarre[at]parks.ca.gov for more info. I’m also happy to help explain the exam and application process for applicants who aren’t familiar with navigating Cal Careers.
Please feel free to pass along this job announcement to your network. Thank you!
