Matter. is a Venture Capital backed CleanTech scale-up and we have an opportunity for a mission driven Business Development Manager for our Industries business unit, who will be instrumental in setting the commercial pace by being accountable for owning customer relationships and delivering against defined revenue and impact targets to support Matters’ growth.

The Opportunity
As an industry-leading, award-winning engineering consultancy that develops and deploys our own patented micro-pollution ‘Regen’ technology. It’s an exciting time at Matter as we continue to develop our industrial solutions capability to address the global micro-pollution challenge at scale.
We are growing our sales team and are recruiting for a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities in international markets, whilst executing on strategies to increase sales in key industrial sectors such as Textile Manufacturing and Industrial Water.
This role will focus on developing a growth strategy linked to high customer satisfaction, whilst prioritising client audiences to promote our global micro pollution consulting & innovative engineering solutions.
You will enjoy the expectations levels that come with being pivotal in the delivery of Matters commercial targets and Industries business unit growth, through consultative engagement and solution driven partnering that converts into B2B contracts with multibillion revenue customers.
The Business Development Manager is expected to drive outreach and market understanding to make new business wins. You will have experience in creating compelling commercial proposals through your understanding of the engineering lifecycle, project milestones and costings to structure customer solutions that consider mutual benefit.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will create, build, and own long-term relationships with customers and partners across sectors including Textile Manufacturing & Industrial Water sectors.
  • You will build strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will generate and qualify new leads, using different approaches to engage prospective accounts.
  • You will convert leads to deliver against revenue and profit targets.
  • You will build industry and customer knowledge across multiple areas (to include, but not limited to, apparel brands and textile manufacturing) to help develop effective product and service solutions, drive opportunity identification and qualification.
  • You will help to define new service and product solutions on behalf of customers, with commercial and engineering colleagues within Matter.
  • You will build and manage a sustainable pipeline of opportunities, forecasting effectively on a quarterly basis.
  • You will prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to showcase Matter’s products / technical solutions.
  • You will drive negotiations with customers on behalf of Matter, with support from Commercial leadership and Legal as required.
  • You will work with other members of the commercial team, including marketing and sales operations, to help build an effective commercial function.
  • You will work and deliver in line with Matter values.
