Wanted – a Lecturer in Marine Biology at the University of Plymouth.

The Marine Biology Group within the School of Biological and Marine Sciences at the University of Plymouth is looking for an enthusiastic new marine biologist to join our team. You will have expertise in research connecting oceanography and marine biology, and be a highly motivated and dynamic academic who seeks the opportunity to build a career in a University with an international reputation in marine biology. While we are particularly interested in those specializing in deep-sea or plankton research, applicants from other areas are also welcome.

In this role, you will deliver dynamic, research-informed teaching and be driven to achieve excellence in your field of study. You will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the Marine Biology Subject Group, with a focus on the BSc Marine Biology and Oceanography degree programme. Responsibilities include designing, delivering, and assessing teaching activities such as lectures, tutorials, statistics workshops, laboratory sessions, taxonomy and fieldwork, including UK-based non-residential field courses. The ability to contribute to residential overseas field courses is highly desirable.

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, with postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience and a promising research track record linking oceanography and marine biology. Prior teaching experience, suited to a Lecturer (Grade 7) position, is preferred (refer to the job description for specific responsibilities and criteria).
