Organisation Description:
The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.
Summary of the Role:
The successful candidate will work within the Marine Research Infrastructures section as a Scientific and Technical Officer supporting the technical delivery of EU projects and programmes including the Horizon Europe project AMRIT, ANERIS, DIGI4ECO & TRIDENT as well as other EU and national projects supporting marine observing infrastructures initiatives.
This will require attending project meetings and the guarantee that MI project deliverables are met within the designated timeframe and budget. Among other responsibilities, the post holder is expected to provide technical assistance to project partners, provide high-quality reporting as needed, and provide input for proposals as requested.
The STO will be accountable for the technical deliverables and reporting requirements of DIGI4ECO and TRIDENT specifically, as well as AMRIT and ANERIS, other EU and national projects. The successful candidate will report to the section’s EU Projects Team Leader. The STO will provide assistance in the development of new R&D projects/programmes and related value-added activities. The STO may, at specific times, be needed to assist the broader MRI team in the planning, development, and operation of new and existing technical services at times.
