The Marine Institute is Ireland’s scientific agency responsible for supporting the sustainable development of the state’s maritime area and resources. We do this through conducting applied research and providing scientific knowledge, advice and services to government, industry and other stakeholders and users. This policy advice capacity, our broad mandate, and the research programmes we fund and undertake, give us a unique insight into the science-policy interface, and make us an exemplar in the provision of integrated ocean knowledge.

Summary of the Role:

The Marine Institute (MI) provides marine scientific and technical services to a range of government Departments and Agencies. As part of this role the Marine Institute operates the National Oceanographic Data Centre, to make marine data and information available to a range of national programmes. The Information Services and Development team provide related IT and data services through a range of external projects and programmes. We provide data and digital services to support areas such as marine spatial planning, environmental and fisheries management, aquaculture and food safety, renewable ocean energy and maritime development, amongst others.

The successful candidate will help to support external research, development and operational projects and programmes. They will have a background in project coordination and administrative support with good general digital, communication and administrative skills. The candidate will require an aptitude and interest in programme administration, project organisation and digital communications. They will support several programmes and research projects, including developing work organisation and communications material, budget tracking and reporting, and the coordination a range of cross-team and organisational activities.

The Programme Coordination and Delivery Higher Executive Officer (HEO) will report to the Information Services and Development (IS&D) Section Manager and Director of OCIS, and work within the IS&D team. The current programmes run until December 2029.
