COMPENSATION FOR THIS POSITION IS UP TO $25/hour and final compensation will be determined based on candidate's experience, skills, and scope of responsibility.
SUMMARY:
The Temporary Accounting Generalist provides entry-level support for general accounting activities, including reconciliations, data entry, and financial reporting. This role is designed to assist the Financial Services team with day-to-day operations and short-term projects. The position requires basic proficiency in Excel and accounting systems and offers an opportunity to develop hands-on accounting experience in a collaborative environment
MAJOR DUTIES:
General Accounting Support
- Assist with preparation and posting of journal entries
- Perform basic account reconciliations and investigate variances with guidance
- Support accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including invoicing and payment recording
- Review financial data for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records
Close and Reporting Support
- Assist with monthly and year-end close activities
- Help prepare schedules and supporting documentation
- Support internal reporting and data requests
Audit Support
- Assist in gathering documentation and schedules for audits
- Organize and maintain audit support files
- Respond to audit requests under supervision
Systems and Data Support
- Use Excel (e.g., basic formulas, pivot tables, lookups) to organize and analyze data
- Enter and maintain data in accounting/ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar)
- Assist with data cleanup and validation projects
Process and Operational Support
- Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls
- Learn and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in daily work
- Collaborate with team members and internal departments to resolve basic accounting issues
Other Duties
- Provide general support to the Financial Services team as needed
- Assist with special projects and administrative tasks
- Participate in training and development opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, data organization; pivot tables a plus)
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems is a plus
- Understanding of basic accounting principles or coursework in accounting
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred (or in progress)
- Recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Internship or coursework in accounting is a plus, but not required
- Intermediate Excel skills required; experience with accounting systems is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires sedentary work (exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects). Worker must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, push, pull, use fingertips, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
