Position Summary:

A full-time Research Assistant I position is available to work in the labs of Dr Rawlinson and Dr Gillis in the Bay Paul Center for Comparative Molecular Biology and Evolution at the MBL.

The RA1 will assist with research on several on-going projects to do with parasitology (Rawlinson lab) and skeletal biology (Gillis lab).

Responsibilities of the RAI will include informatics (single cell RNAseq analysis), microscopy (light and electron microscopy), cell culture, gene expression analysis (in situ hybridisation), histology and animal husbandry.

This is a one-year position with an expected start date of February 1, 2026.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in biology and relevant research experience.
  • Experience with R studio, Python, Cell Ranger is required.
  • Experience in the lab with careful handling of animals and cells is essential.
  • Experience with advanced microscopy and histology is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Minimal exposure to pathogenic organisms and biohazardous chemicals. Occasional lifting of heavy objects (<30 pounds).
