Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Supervisor: IT & Facilities Director

Starting Salary Range: $24-$27 per hour, commensurate with experience

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will support the maintenance and operation of our buildings and wharves. This part-time, 20 hrs/week position will work with our IT & Facilities Director and vendors to ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will assist with maintenance and upkeep of our buildings and wharves, implementing maintenance plans, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of facilities on Wrights and Union Wharves, including custodial, life-safety, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain complete maintenance records for equipment.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and address issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist snow removal vendor as needed by clearing and salting steps and paths during storms, removing snow from deck and roof hatches, and snow blowing the pier after storms.
  • Clear overgrowth from designated areas: Remove weeds and brush from specific areas around the property.
  • Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning equipment, systems, and structures within your expertise.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, staff, and tenants to ensure their needs are met.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by being friendly, approachable, and responsive to inquiries and concerns.
  • Support facilities upgrade projects as needed and demonstrate interest in developing project management skills.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment with significant time spent in marine/wharf facilities. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires comfort operating computer systems for documentation, maintenance records, and budget applications.

The position requires travel between properties in varying weather conditions.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Trade license (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and/or technical certificate a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience with facilities maintenance, preferably in a customer service-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical and electrical work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in operating a variety of tools.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a background check
