Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute
Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute (GMGI) addresses critical challenges facing our oceans, human health, and the environment through innovative scientific research and education. By bringing world-class science and transformative workforce development to Gloucester’s historic waterfront, GMGI is catalyzing the regional economy.
Founded in 2013, a strategy triad guides our work and includes: a state-of-the-art research institute where we conduct marine research powered by genomics; Gloucester Biotechnology Academy (Academy), a hands-on vocational program which trains young adults to become biotech and biomanufacturing lab technicians; and our science community, expanding the local economy as we build a vibrant science hub on Cape Ann. GMGI is in a high-growth mode with a fantastic team ready to lead the organization into its next chapter.
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment and Partnerships, Gloucester Biotechnology Academy seeks a Student Services Navigator who brings the expertise necessary to assess student needs, provide direct support, and connect students with appropriate resources to help ensure their success in our program and beyond. Academy program participants are adult vocational learners (age 19-32 years) who have earned a high school credential. Students participate in six months of training at the Academy in Gloucester, followed by a three-month paid industry internship. More information can be found at www.gmgi.org/education.
While not a clinical position, sensitivity, judgment, and respect for confidentiality are required. This position will facilitate support for program participants during both urgent and non-urgent situations. The Student Services Navigator will ensure appropriate care and follow-up for program participants in need of additional resources while helping to coordinate a comprehensive plan of care.
