Position Title: Assistant Manager, Safety & Security

Department: Safety & Security – 4020

Division: Facilities

Classification: Non-Exempt

Direct Report: Manager, Safety and Security

Position Summary

The Asst. Manager of Safety and Security shall be responsible for creating the security departments policies and procedures and will assist the Manager in all operational needs of the department. Duties include but are not limited to managing and training department personnel in security operations, creating department policies, and completing staff evaluations. The Asst. Manager will assist the shift supervisors with daily duties if necessary.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage supervision and staff assigned to their shift.
  2. Complete performance evaluations.
  3. Develop operational policies and procedures.
  4. Approve department documents.
  5. Ensure security staff follow Department policies.
  6. Work with all Georgia Aquarium departments and vendors.
  7. Participates in management training classes.
  8. Coach supervisors and staff in all new policies and procedures.
  9. Assists in the development of goals and objectives for the aquarium.
  10. To perform other duties as workload necessitates.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  2. Minimum of three to five years management experience in a security related position required.
  3. Proven excellent customer service experience required.
  4. Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.
  5. Must be able to manage sensitive, confidential, and stressful situations in a professional manner.
  6. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively in various settings.
  7. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  8. Successful completion of designated management training course(s).
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
