The mission of the Florida Oceanographic Society is to inspire environmental stewardship of Florida's coastal ecosystems through education and research. Enjoy and learn about our unique coastal treasures - the St. Lucie and the Indian River Lagoon estuaries and our near shore reefs by visiting the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center. The Coastal Center is a 57 acre marine life nature center located on Hutchinson Island, a coastal barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon. We have daily programs, feedings, interactive exhibits and a nature trail. Help us protect and restore our estuaries by volunteering in many of our citizen science programs through our research department.
