Duties
📌ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Engineer (EN-ENG-04) will serve as a technical authority in engineering and design for the engineering portfolio, including major multi-million-dollar projects. The incumbent will carry out design work, including the preparation of plans and specifications, development of project schedules, and estimation of construction costs.
Work environment
🐟 The SCH team offers a stimulating, dynamic, and operational work environment. We are responsible for managing and maintaining a network of commercial fishing harbours. We ensure that harbours essential to the fishing industry remain open and in good condition.SCH has a full team of professionals capable of delivering its mandate, including engineers, technologists responsible for project management and site supervision, drafters, environmental advisors, and others. The facilities are diverse and include wharves, breakwaters, boat launch ramps, floating docks, and walkways.
Intent of the process
💭The current need is to fill a determinate position in Quebec City. A pool of candidates could be established and used to fill similar positions with varying tenures (determinate, indeterminate) of employment and language requirements within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Conditions of employment

• Work overtime or occasionally on weekends.
• Travel throughout Quebec and occasionally across Canada.
• Hold a valid, unrestricted driver's licence and ability to operate passenger vehicles and light trucks.
• Travel over rough terrain and access port infrastructure and construction sites in adverse weather conditions (cold, wind, rain, and snow).

🎓 EDUCATION
· A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or another field of engineering related to the duties of the position.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
⭐️ EXPERIENCE
• Experience in planning and engineering design of port or marine infrastructure or civil engineering structures or hydraulic infrastructure including construction cost estimating.
• Experience in the preparation of plans and specifications, and in the preparation and review of engineering studies and reports.
• Experience in project management* related to real property management (i.e. marine, civil, structural, building construction, etc.).
• Experience in providing technical advice and recommending options on complex technical and engineering issues.*Project management is defined as identifying project objectives, requirements, issues, risks, plans, budgets, and schedules, as well as ensuring accountability and reporting for the management of real property assets.
