🚢Occupational Certification:

Stream 1: SO-MAO-08: Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, Master 500GT Near Coastal or higher

Stream 2: SO-MAO-09: Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, Master Near Coastal or Higher

Stream 3: SO-MAO-10: Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, Master Near Coastal or Higher

🚢Experience:

Stream 1: SO-MAO-08: **6 cycles of operational experience as Chief officer on a large vessel (1200GT or greater) OR 6 cycles of operational experience as SO-MAO-06 or higher

Stream 2: SO-MAO-09: **6 cycles of operational experience as Chief officer on a large vessel (1200GT or greater) OR 6 cycles of operational experience as SO-MAO-06 or higher

Stream 3: SO-MAO-10: **6 cycles of operational experience as Chief officer on a large vessel (1900GT or greater) OR 6 cycles of operational experience as SO-MAO-07 or higher

**A “cycle of operational experience” denotes operational cycles based on a 28 day period on a sea going vessel

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

🚢Occupational Certification:

SO-MAO-08: Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, Master Near Coastal or Higher

SO-MAO-09 and SO-MAO-10: Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, Master Mariner

🚢Experience:

Experience working in a shore position relating to Coast Guard Operations. *CGOO 516 requirements to be fully met before hiring indeterminately into a Senior Officer at Sea position (SO-MAO-09 and SO-MAO-10)

Experience as Master on seagoing vessels

Experience, at any level, in any or all of the following CCG programs
➤ Aids to Navigation
➤ Search and Rescue
➤ Icebreaking
➤ Conservation and Protection
➤ Science Research Program
➤ Working with other Government Departments (RCMP, DND, Environment Canada or any others)

ORGANIZATIONAL NEED
Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard are committed to establishing and maintaining a workforce representative of the population it serves. Conditions of employment

➤ Maintain valid secret security clearance
➤ Maintain valid Health Canada medical
➤ Maintain valid Transport Canada certificate of competency
➤ To be deployed within your assigned region (Atlantic Region, Central and Arctic Region or Pacific Region)
➤ Requirement to go to sea for prolonged periods of time and in adverse weather conditions
➤ Requirement to travel by sea, land or by air
➤ Requirement to wear and maintain a uniform, safety footwear and personal protective equipment to CCG standards
➤ To work overtime when required
➤ Valid Canadian Passport (for identified positions). For Canadian Permanent Residents: valid Permanent Resident card.
➤ This process may be used to staff CCG vessels in the MSET (Marine Security Enforcement Teams) program. In order to be considered for the MSET program, candidates must pass a Law Enforcement Records and Credit Check (LERCC) conducted by the RCMP.
➤ Compliance with the Canadian Coast Guard Safety Management System and Standards

Salary for SO-MAO-08 - $53.10 - $58.88 per hour.
Salary for SO-MAO-09 - $57.17 – $63.38 per hour.
Salary for SO-MAO-10 - $62.31 - $69.09 per hour.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
