🚢 The Senior Director (SD), Electronics & Informatics (E&I), is the national functional lead for the Canadian Coast Guard’s (CCG) Electronics, Informatics, and Operational IT assets which, by extension, includes Communications & Cyber Security countermeasures. The SD is accountable for the overall Life Cycle Management of E&I assets, from cradle to grave, directing the necessary development, investment, and implementation of strategies and initiatives to meet evolving CCG Program delivery requirements.

🎓 EDUCATION:
⇾ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.

📌 EXPERIENCE:
⇾ Significant* experience in providing leadership and direction on operational Life Cycle Maintenance of electronic and/or information technology systems/services at the Executive (or equivalent) level;
⇾ Significant* experience in providing strategic advice, recommendations and briefings to senior management;
⇾ Significant* experience in negotiating and resolving complex** issues involving the private sector;
⇾ Significant* experience in managing electronic engineering and/or IT systems;
⇾ Significant* experience in managing financial*** and human resources**** matters.

✒️ Definitions:
*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities over a period of at least two (2) years. Candidates must clearly demonstrate their roles and responsibilities pertaining to this experience.

**Complex issues would include three (3) or more of the following characteristics: high profile (e.g. public or media attention), multi-stakeholder, multi-jurisdictional (e.g. federal-provincial/territorial), third party interests, international in scope; requiring multiple consultations; high impact, or other factors that the candidate can demonstrate constitute complex.

*** For financial, applicants must clearly demonstrate their experience in this area such as evidence of managing, allocating and being accountable for a budget. This experience is defined as being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.

**** Human resources include activities at the national level such as leading a multi-disciplinary team; establishing vision, priorities and work plans; establishing work objectives; promoting diversity and inclusion, engaging employees, dealing with performance/duty to accommodate/grievances/union-related issues. Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work, managed labour relations issues, managed and assessed performance, developed and implemented training and staffing plans. Applicants must also indicate the number of employees they supervised directly.

⇾ Experience in providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of IT initiatives, IT programs, strategies or operational service delivery;
⇾ Experience in providing leadership and direction in the development and/or implementation of electronic engineering initiatives, strategies or operational service delivery;
⇾ Experience in managing technology in the marine transportation sector;
⇾ Experience in managing procurement projects for the Government of Canada;
⇾ Experience in providing direction to a national organization;
