Assessment accommodation

Duties

• To provide consulting services to managers, economic analysts and scientists of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on the consolidation of statistics, on quality control and on the extraction of statistical data.
• Perform complex analysis to produce timely and accurate data as a basis for policy and program decisions at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
• Production of tools and processes for statistical analysis.
• Advise on improving statistical tools and processes.
• Develop a data reliability tool.
• Contributing to Fisheries Monitoring Policy and other committees and working groups on statistical methods and protocols.
• Provide customer service (internal and external) in relation to statistical data.

Intent of the process

The current need is to fill an indeterminate position at the Following sites : Cap-aux-Meules (Québec), Gaspé (Québec), Québec (Québec) or Sept-Îles (Québec). A pool of qualified candidates will be established from this process in order to fill identical or similar positions of various profiles and durations within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada for the Quebec Region. Indeterminate position.

🎓 STUDIES
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Comments :

1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

2. An indeterminate incumbent of a former ES position on June 30, 1967 who became an EC on June 22, 2009, who does not possess the minimum level of education as indicated for Part A above is deemed to meet this minimum educational standard based on his/her education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

✍ EXPERIENCES
• Experience in formulating recommendations to improve a data collection system.
• Experience in using statistical software to perform quantitative or qualitative analyses.
• Experience in using data modeling to produce statistics.
• Experience in coordinating working groups or committees.

• Experience in using Excel or other statistical software (e.g., creating pivot tables).
• Experience in fisheries management.
