ROLE

The Projects Manager and Ecosystem Scientist is a role for a qualified individual who is professional, energetic, proactive, confident, client-oriented and driven to solve pressing problems. The individual is capable of establishing project needs, conducting field and desk-based work, and developing and successfully implementing project plans including working with clients, internal resources, and third-party resources to deliver projects on time and on budget. The ideal candidate must enjoy working on a variety of projects and clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

· Apply knowledge of ecosystems and marine processes on work that is centered around nature-based solutions for tropical marine and coastal ecosystems including mangroves, coral reefs, sand dunes, and coastal vegetation.

· Conduct field and desk-top research, and contribute reporting including Environmental and Socio-Economic Impact Assessments

· Coordinate and communicate with high-end clients, governmental agencies and stakeholders

· Prepare reports and work plans

· Collecting, processing, and evaluating data

· Interpret permits and other environmental documents

· Ability to work across sectors with government officials, engineers, and high level clients

Most of this field work is based in the Caribbean region and the candidate will be expected to travel spending 25% of their time in the Caribbean. Due to the nature of the work and travel, from time to time, weekend work may be required, but the Company has a flex time policy to compensate for that time.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s degree in either ecological or marine science

· A minimum of five years of experience in project management, and direct experience in environmental projects

· Proven track record working successfully with engineers and across sectors

· Experience in tropical coastal ecology, biology, and management

· Understanding of infrastructure and its interaction with ecosystems

· Some experience in private sector preferred

· Experience working in the Caribbean a plus

LOCATION

The job is located in Washington, DC, however open to hybrid.  The candidate will be excepted to travel to the Caribbean region.

SALARY

Commensurate with experience. Benefits and Annual bonus pay.
