Six-month position providing experience in environmental education, interpretation, animal handling, and special events; gain knowledge of Southwest Florida ecosystems and conservation/climate change impacts. Interns deliver programs for audiences of all ages (school field trips, afterschool, camps, tours, public talks, special events) and assist in developing program content/materials. $300 bi-weekly cost of living stipend and dorm accommodation, including laundry, provided. Work/training environment: willingness to handle reptiles, invertebrates, amphibians; excellent communication/public speaking; ability to work with diverse audiences; weekends/holidays/early mornings/evenings; lift 20 lbs; work outdoors in hot, humid conditions. Education/Experience: BS/BA in science and/or education; background in environmental science/ecology or education preferred; some teaching and animal handling experience preferred but not required.
