Ocean Job Board

The Northern Chumash Tribal Council is a Native American tribe and nonprofit leader of cultural, community, and environmental advocacy based on the Central Coast of California. We are the nominators of the proposed Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary, the first tribally nominated national marine sanctuary in the USA. NCTC's mission to protect the heritage of the Central Coast also includes our active work in cultural monitoring as a California state recognized tribe. Protecting cultural and environmental resources is an essential part of our mission to advocate for tribal community and public health and well-being. We are leading the proposed Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary campaign: * Preserving marine and cultural resources across 7,000 square miles of ocean spanning 156 miles of Central California coastline * Estimated to generate $23 million in economic activity and create 600 new jobs * Will safeguard the Central Coast from offshore oil expansion
