Cellula is looking to add an Electrical Technologist to its Production team to support its growing list of projects.

Cellula Robotics Ltd. is a world-leading marine technology company focused on changing the paradigm of subsea survey, science and security through modular, long range, autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) systems. As an Electrical Technologist, you will be responsible for hands on electrical & electronic assembly of marine robotic systems including underwater cabling. You will participate in design reviews and continuous improvement practices as needed. You will keep the electrical shop neat, tidy, organized & stocked. You will work with several other technologists, engineers & manager to achieve project goals. You will be or become a “go to” resource for many practical aspects of subsea electrical assembly. You will be friendly, co-operative and genuinely engaged in the work we are doing. You will be a champion of safe shop practices and will lead by example by wearing your PPE as appropriate and maintaining a safe & efficient environment.

This position requires you to be on-site at our integrated shop/office in Burnaby, BC, Canada most of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, test & operate marine robotic systems
  • Maintain a safe & efficient electrical shop environment
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchases as appropriate
  • Deliver solutions that are fit for purpose and meet constraints.
  • Liaise with other disciplines as needed, including: Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Project Management & Operations
  • International travel may be required
  • Offshore work may be required

Required Qualifications:

  • College diploma or higher with focus on electrical & electronic systems

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Electrical & electronic assembly based on approved drawings
  • Hands on electrical & electronic assembly skills, including soldering and point-to-point wiring
  • Electrical & electronic troubleshooting – oscilloscopes & related equipment
  • Good English communication skills: written & oral

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • 3 phase power wiring of shop equipment (e.g. Hydraulic Power Units)
  • Light fabrication for mounting components (e.g. drill & tap 1/8” aluminum)
  • Troubleshooting electrical & communication systems
  • Subsea systems & sensors
  • First aid
  • Forklift operation
  • Electrical shop organisation
  • 2D electrical CAD
