We’re hiring solution-minded people excited to help us grow into the future. We are currently looking to fill the position of Field Biologist - 6 Months Term.
Key elements of this role include:
- You will be responsible for carrying out environmental work related to all aspects of Environmental Services activities and projects. Field surveys may include: water quality, fish and fish habitat, riparian flow releases, vegetation, species at risk, and bathymetry.
- Also, part of the job is the maintenance and calibration of survey equipment, recording of site information, data entry into a database, report preparation and participation as part of the Environmental Services Team to evaluate and mitigate environmental effects of NSPI operational activities and projects. Field work may be required for extended durations, often in remote areas.
- You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations, including Hydro and Environmental Services Safe Work Practices and Operational Procedures.
- You will share in the accountability of NSPI’s environmental management system, in the continual improvement of Business Unit environmental performance and for the meeting of environmental objectives and targets.
These skills will make you successful:
- Our ideal candidate will be working towards or recently graduated with a BSc in Biology, diploma in environmental technology, or other equivalent educational experience. Environmental field experience, in particular in aquatic systems, is considered an asset. Other qualifications and experience will be considered.
- You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office ™ applications. You perform work in a professional manner and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- You are a team player with excellent interpersonal skills as well as effective oral and written communication skills.
- You hold a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License.
