Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Investment Brand Communications to lead our efforts in building a compelling brand narrative and effectively communicating our investment strategies and impact to institutional investors. This pivotal role will be instrumental in shaping perceptions, fostering trust, and driving capital formation across our specialized sectors. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the institutional investment landscape, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of developing and executing impactful brand and communications strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Investment Brand and Communication Strategy: Create and implement a comprehensive, multi-year communication strategy aligned with the firm's overall business objectives and designed to enhance brand recognition and attract investment from all types of investors, including institutional.
- Brand Building, Messaging and Measurement: Craft compelling and differentiated messaging that articulates our investment philosophy, sector expertise (ocean, energy, and food), impact thesis, and investment performance to influential audiences. Work with the Head of Communications to track and measure brand awareness, trust and credibility with target audiences.
- Stakeholder and Key Audience Communications Support: Collaborate closely with the Investment leadership team to develop communication materials for investor events and meetings, developing shareable insights and reports, and persuasive communications materials for key internal and external audiences.
- Partner with Media Relations Team: Work with the media relations team to manage and support proactive and reactive opportunities with relevant financial and sector media to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation with our target audiences.
- Digital Strategy: Develop the strategy and direct the firm's online presence, including website content, social media strategy (primarily LinkedIn), and digital marketing initiatives targeting institutional investors.
- Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and investor sentiment within the ocean, energy, and food sectors, and adapt communication strategies accordingly. Help to recommend and drive strategies for content and thought leadership pieces we should develop.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Partner and collaborate effectively with investment team, impact measurement and management, communications, and legal to ensure consistent and accurate messaging.
- Event Strategy: Partner with the Director of Strategic Convenings and the investment team to build convening strategies for investor audiences, including investor conferences, roadshows, and other events to engage with institutional investors.
- Performance Measurement: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and provide regular reports on progress.

Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in investment communications, marketing, or investor relations within the financial services industry, preferably with exposure to alternative investments or thematic investing.
- Deep understanding of the institutional investor landscape, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, and consultants.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex investment concepts into clear, concise, and compelling narratives.
- Demonstrated success in building and enhancing brand recognition and influencing institutional investment decisions.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies and best practices for engaging institutional audiences online.
- Experience managing public relations and working with financial media.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, communications, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA) are a plus.
- Passion for and understanding of the ocean, energy, agriculture and food sectors and the trends shaping these industries is highly desirable.

There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; specific job-related experience and training; job location, licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Builders Vision, we apply a total rewards philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation terms. Expected annual base salary range for this role is $180,000-$200,000, plus this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary long-term incentive award, and benefits.
