We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities
Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.
Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.
Summary job description
Blue Ventures’ approach is grounded in listening and responding to the needs of coastal communities. We have developed an approach that seeks to reimagine the relationship between people and conservation, with each component of the approach designed to benefit and empower communities through practical efforts to protect the ocean.
The Program officer - Data for decision-making plays a key role in supporting our team, partners and communities in Timor-Leste to use monitoring and evaluation tools that support learning and adaptive management, providing guidance, training and support across key areas of monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, data collection, data capture tools, visualisation and interpretation.
The Program officer - Data for decision-making will support data science work around measuring fisheries, social and ecological data through the household survey and measuring programme performance and metrics of success linked to the organisations’ Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). The Program officer - Data for decision-making is responsible for ensuring quality in the delivery of all activities related to the collection, generation and storage of data.
