Blue Marine Foundation is seeking a Amvrakikos Gulf Project Consultant to join and support its Greece team. This is an opportunity to lead the partnership Amvrakikos Alliance in a large-scale marine restoration and conservation project development. We are an ambitious and dynamic ocean conservation charity whose mission is to restore the ocean to health. The successful candidate will work as part of a driven team responsible for grant and partner management.

The post holder will report directly to the Greece Projects Manager and work specifically on the Amvrakikos Gulf project. Supporting the planning and development of the full three-year project plan. This is an incredible chance to join a highly impactful charity at the cutting edge of marine conservation.

Rate: Between €24,000 – 30,000 per annum based on 3 days per week (full time equivalent based on 5 days per week €40,000 – 50,000). Rate to be determined depending on experience.

Contract: Fixed term for three months.

Hours: Equivalent of 3 days per week

Location: Greece or UK with some travel between both.

Project scope & responsibilities:

  • Design and structure of a three-year implementation project, including development of theory of change, log frame, budget and monitoring plan.
  • Maintain existing partnerships and relationships with stakeholders and build new ones to deliver this project.
  • Work with wider alliance to develop seascape restoration strategies using the Amvrakikos project as an evidence-based case study.
  • Produce reports to funders on progress against deliverables and provide scientific content and guidance to Blue Marine to meet funding and reporting requirements.
  • Write reports and proposals and provide updates/presentations for internal and external use where required.

Skills required:

  • Fluent in Greek and English.
  • Relevant qualification and/or experience of marine conservation and/or habitat restoration.
  • A technical knowledge of marine conservation and/or species/habitat restoration is desirable.
  • An excellent communicator (written and verbal), with an ability to build relationships.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work using own initiative.
  • A drive and determination to succeed.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet key deadlines.
  • Excellent team working and inter-personal skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to take initiative.
  • Able to multi-task to meet key deadlines and take a flexible approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong skills in data management and use of Excel.

Preferred experience:

  • Previous experience of marine management, fisheries management, marine conservation, environmental management and/or consulting.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering multiple complex projects.
  • Experience of developing Habitats Regulations Assessments, Marine Conservation Assessments or similar.
  • Experience of developing, engaging and managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • A demonstrable ability to deliver elements of marine conservation projects.
  • A demonstrable track record of effecting positive change within the marine environment.
