Development Officer
BLUE Marine Foundation
Blue Marine Foundation is seeking a Development Officer to join its fundraising team. We are an ambitious and dynamic ocean conservation charity whose mission is to restore the ocean to health. The successful candidate will work as part of a driven team responsible for finding donations to support all of Blue Marine’s operations and projects.
This role will report directly to the Senior Development Manager and work across the organisation’s large number of projects. Supporting on day-to-day grant management, funder relationships and the timely delivery of reports. Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00.
Location: Somerset House, London. Flexible and remote working is encouraged, although presence in the office at least 2 days per week will be expected.

Role & responsibilities:
- Supporting the development team to open doors, generate meetings, write fundraising applications, present and secure donations.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with trusts and foundations.
- Maintaining funding tracking spreadsheets.
- Managing and updating Salesforce data.
- Reporting and maintaining relationships with existing donors.
- Representing Blue Marine at external meetings to secure funding.
- Proactively following up on fundraising leads internally.
This list is not exhaustive, and the selected candidate will be required to undertake other relevant tasks.
Skills and experience required:
- Relevant qualification/s, degree level preferred but not essential.
- Experience of developing, engaging and managing relationships with funders.
- Excellent communicator (written and verbal), with an ability to deliver accurate reporting.
- Extensive proven experience in writing in an engaging and informative way tailored to specific audiences and contexts.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work using own initiative.
- A motivated self-starter who displays a strong work ethic.
- Aptitude and ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet key deadlines.
- Able to multi-task to meet key deadlines and take a flexible approach.
- Excellent team-work and inter-personal skills.
