Overview
Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences seeks a Research Technician/Associate to conduct biochemical analyses in support of Bigelow Analytical Services, and Applied and Fundamental science projects. This will include current method implementation, some method development and testing, and involve a wide variety of analytical approaches. The major applications will be HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS based. The person will need to carry out data handling, interpretation and presentation of results. The position will also involve instrument maintenance, laboratory upkeep, regulatory compliance and customer liaison.

The salary is commensurate with experience and falls within the pay band $22.22-$31.33 hourly, accompanied by a generous benefits package that includes healthcare, retirement contributions, and paid time off.


Requirements

1. BS degree or equivalent, including some chemistry / biochemistry education
2. 1+ years of demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation, ideally HPLC and/or GC approaches
3. Ideally some fieldwork experience on coasts and/or small boats
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (listed in order importance to the position with % of effort/importance for the position):

1. Chemical analyses of biological and environmental samples (40%)
2. Data handling, reporting and dissemination (30%)
3. Experimental work, laboratory and fieldwork (10%)
4. Equipment maintenance and laboratory upkeep (10%)
5. Customer liaison, regulatory compliance and administrative duties (10%)
