About this exciting opportunity
AIMS’ Decision Systems Modeller is responsible for maintaining and developing quantitative Decision Support tools that assist with complex decision-making across a variety of applications, including marine ecosystem management, operations research, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge elicitation. This role involves designing and improving mathematical models that provide reliable insights to support planning, analysis, and informed decision-making in challenging and dynamic environments.
You will work collaboratively with experts from diverse disciplines, such as oceanography, ecotoxicology, statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), software engineering, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
About you
You will hold a PhD or Masters level qualification in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research or other relevant field, with a working understanding of software design and development and how these complement modelling practices.
Our ideal candidate is a motivated and self-driven professional with experience in mathematical modelling with an interest in the intersection of open science, software development, and scientific modelling for decision support. You will bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills which will see you succeed with integrating knowledge across a range of fields and delivering effective decision support solutions.
