About this exciting opportunity
The Postdoctoral Fellow - Crimson Snapper Biology and Stock Structure will improve our understanding of Crimson Snapper stock structure and biology across northern Australia. As Crimson Snapper are an important commercial and recreational species, the knowledge generated will underpin sustainable harvest and management of this resource into the future. This project is directly aligned with the AIMS Strategy, in this role you will be contributing to the Coastal Futures theme by supporting healthy ecosystems, community wellbeing and livelihoods, and to the Blue Economy theme by fostering an inclusive and sustainable blue economy.

About you
Your suitability for this role is supported by your PhD in Marine Biology and/or Ecology with a specialisation in fish ecology, and a demonstrated track record of scientific achievements, including publications in peer-reviewed journals. You have demonstrated skills in experimental design, field and laboratory data collection and statistical analysis. You are a team player, with strong communication skills and you have experience managing and actively contributing to the full project lifecycle. You are also intellectually curious and capable of working independently, showing initiative in contributing your own ideas within the broader project framework. Your strong analytical and quantitative skills, with advanced knowledge in spatial ecology will be beneficial to this role. Research and fieldwork experience with fisheries in Northern Australia is highly desirable.
