About this exciting opportunity

As our RRAP Research Technician - Enhancement of Coral Thermal Tolerance you will be responsible for progressing research on the generation of enhanced coral for reef restoration. Duties of this role will range from wet lab sample processing to data analysis and manuscript writing and will directly supports AIMS Strategy 2040 by enabling large-scale, cost-effective restoration solutions that enhance coral thermal tolerance.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conducting Fecundity analysis of interspecific hybrid coral samples;
  • Leading the analysis of phenotypic and potentially genomic data; and
  • Contributing to data management and project reporting.

About you

Underpinning your suitability for this role is your master’s degree in marine biology, environmental science, or a closely related field paired with your background in quantitative biology, including statistics with advanced data management and visualisation skills. You have strong scientific writing skills and demonstrated ability to contribute to scientific publications as well as experience in measuring phenotypes of marine organisms. Experience working with corals in an aquarium setting is highly desirable.

  • AIMS AOF Level 3 Enhanced (3.6-3.9) salary ($88,578 to $95,846 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
