About this opportunity

Working across the Marine Operations team, your role provides diving, field logistics and technical support to assist complex field trips and technical teams to ensure the safe delivery of AIMS’ field program. Participating regularly in field trips, you will provide critical advice and guidance in the preparation of field/dive plans and field supervision, including supporting Cruise Leaders with planning and logistics.

When not working in the field, this role will support the Field Office with a range of compliance, maintenance and administrative activities.

About you

Your knowledge and experience in health, safety and environmental issues and practices including experimental/support fieldwork (marine or land-based) or at research facilities, will be supported by your experience supervising teams and supporting marine research activities in a field environment.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Vessel Master qualifications with relevant work experience in marine research
  • Rescue Diver certification with experience in scientific diving
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards and experience in occupational diving and vessel operation
  • Formal Occupational Health and Safety qualifications and experience would be highly desirable

  • AIMS AOF Level 4 salary ($97,503 to $110,957 per annum) plus 15.4% superannuation
