About this exciting opportunity

As a Research Scientist you will demonstrate excellent numerical skills, a high degree of initiative and independence and will conduct world class research as part of a multidisciplinary team. In this role you will work closely with ecologists and ecological modelers to ensure that relevant existing and new ecological data and information are utilised to their full potential for understanding reef vital rates and dynamics of reef recovery. You will work within a team to help identify ecological limitations for the recovery of critical reef functions across multiple spatial scales. You will develop an understanding of the data needs and existing datasets to ensure complementarity to existing studies tackling reef recovery and trajectory and knowledge transfer to other teams within AIMS.

About you

Underpinning your suitability for the role will be your PhD in ecology or related subjects with demonstrated experience in quantitative ecology. You will bring strong skills in demography of sessile benthic organisms and have a strong background in quantitative ecology including statistics and computer skills, with advanced data management and programming skills. You have excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of academic achievement and research publications. Experience conducting field work including field surveys in coral reefs is highly desirable.
