About this exciting opportunity

This position is responsible for leading the concept development, data extraction and analysis, integration and sharing of information, towards an improved understanding of macroalgal dynamics, and of the relationships between macroalgae and coral recruitment on inshore reefs of the GBR, and their implications for coral recovery. In this role you will work as part of a team to contribute developing a more integrated coral reef monitoring and reporting framework. You will contribute to the creation of high-quality manuscripts for publication, jointly with the collaborators.

About you

Your demonstrated knowledge of tropical inshore reef dynamics and of tropical macroalgae will be supported by your PhD in Marine Ecology or a relevant discipline, excellent academic achievement, evidenced by quality and number of publications, or other forms of research outputs. You are a problem solver and have a high level of organisational skills to allow you to manage complex datasets and competing priorities. You also have demonstrated quantitative ecology skills using statistical software packages for spatial and temporal data analysis, data integration, sampling design and identification of coral reef benthos.

  • AIMS AOF Level 4 (4.2-4.5) $65.76-$72.34 per hour, inclusive of 25% casual loading
  • Casual (Labour hire) opportunity to 30 June 2026 (up to 110 days)
