About this exciting opportunity

The Reef Recovery, Adaptation and Restoration Program at AIMS conducts significant research into the utilisation of conservation aquaculture techniques to achieve scale in restoration activities. Take a lead role conducting aquaculture activities while ensuring quality assurance and quality control. Using your subject matter expertise, you will contribute to developing novel techniques and frameworks to minimise the genetic diversity loss of aquaculture organisms relative to broodstock and wild populations.

You will support rapid decision making for aquaculture-based restoration by developing workflows from sample collection, sample processing, data collection, and data processing. Work closely with stakeholders to support the development of DNA-based tools for the rapid detection of pests and pathogenic microbes under aquarium conditions.

About you

Your demonstrated experience in genetic and genomic analyses will be supported by your PhD in Marine Biology or a related field. As a Senior Research Scientist, you have extensive sample to interpretation experience for DNA based data including molecular work, bioinformatics, and data analysis using massive parallel sequencing. Your demonstrated experience with sexual reproduction and aquaculture practices and preferably the reproduction of corals will allow you to thrive in this position. Project management skills are highly desirable.
