Ocean Job Board

Archipelago
Location: Anchorage, Alaska, preferred but will consider suitable candidates in other locations.
Do you enjoy hands-on work in the field combined with coordinating projects and analyzing data? Do you have a passion for tools, electronics, computers and travel? Are you committed to environmental sustainability and are you interested in working with the local Alaskan commercial fishing community?
Archipelago www.archipelago.ca has been a leader in electronic monitoring (EM) solutions for fisheries globally for over 40 years. Our innovative technology supports commercial fishing vessels, at-sea observers, and dockside monitors in collecting crucial data to manage global fisheries and promote sustainability for future generations. With our systems deployed on over 700 fishing vessels worldwide, we partner with government agencies, NGOs, fish processors, and members of the commercial fishing industry, ensuring quality data supports sustainable fisheries.
The Electronic Monitoring Technical Coordinator role is a blend of on-board vessel fieldwork, inventory and asset management, as well as some data review and reporting. The position will need to communicate effectively with fishing industry members, fishery agency staff, fishing industry support groups, and other members of the technical field services team. Responsibilities include installing and servicing CCTV cameras and computer components onboard commercial fishing vessels across Alaska, along with data review and coordination of project related tasks. A strong understanding of commercial fishing practices and Alaska’s groundfish fishing industry is a very strong asset.
This full-time position would ideally be suited for someone based out of Anchorage, but other locations within Alaska will also be considered as a “home base” for this position. The position does require extensive travel throughout Alaska for installations and service work during prescribed periods as needed.
Archipelago is committed to providing an inclusive, fair, and equitable work environment for staff of all backgrounds. We welcome your unique contributions and perspectives in our mission to manage ocean resources responsibly.
