We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Product Engineering team as a Product Specialist, focusing on developing innovative monitoring systems for global fisheries. The decisions made in the development of Electronic Monitoring systems for fisheries play a crucial role in determining how successful governments and companies are in ensuring sustainable fishing practices, protecting endangered species, and combatting illegal fishing.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to clients, technicians, and distributors of Archipelago’s products.
  • Liaison Duties: Act as a technical liaison between internal and external technical teams and operational staff.
  • Knowledge Management: Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for each product and provide internal training on products.
  • Metrics Monitoring: Monitor key operating metrics for products and report monthly on product performance.
  • Strategic Support: Provide roadmap and budget support during strategic planning discussions.
WHAT DO YOU OFFER?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field. Engineering technologists and individuals with backgrounds in applied marine sciences are also encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical and mechanical design
  • An understanding of Linux operating systems and command line troubleshooting
  • Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical and market research skills
  • Ability to travel as required for client support and market research
BENEFICIAL EXPERIENCE
  • Experience working in a product development environment
  • Work experience within the Marine Technology or Marine Environmental Monitoring industries
  • Co-op work experience in any field

WHAT ELSE?

The position is based on a 37.5-hour work week – Monday to Friday with 3 weeks paid vacation. Archipelago is focused on getting the job done and not watching the clock, but we use these figures as our guidelines for our team members.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $70,000 to $85,000 based on experience.
