POSITION TITLE: Part-Time Security & Warehouse Support Associate
REPORTS TO: Senior Operations Manager
Schedule: Thursdays 9am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday, overnights 11pm-7:30am (total hours=24/week)

SUMMARY:

AltaSea is seeking a dependable and proactive Part-Time Security & Warehouse Support Associate to maintain the safety, security, and operational efficiency of our waterfront maritime sciences campus. This role supports initiatives that advance environmental and ocean-related goals. The position primarily focuses on security, with additional responsibilities in light warehouse operations and basic property maintenance. Duties may evolve based on the needs of the campus.

Security Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough foot or company cart patrols of the wharf, berths, docks, and perimeter
• Monitor security cameras and maintain a visible presence to deter unauthorized activity
• Ensure all gates, entry points, storefront doors, and restricted areas are secured and locked during patrols
• Monitor building lights, office spaces, docks, and restricted areas for hazards or operational issues
• Monitor AltaSea vessels and report any signs of sinking, damage, or unsafe conditions
• Inspect the waterway and surrounding areas for debris or hazards that could damage boats or wharf equipment, including unsecured piling, fender camels, or floating debris
• Monitor the ocean channel for unauthorized boat traffic and report trespassers to Port Police
• Identify, manage, and document workplace hazards according to OSHA requirements
• Create detailed and accurate security incident reports for accidents, disturbances, or unusual activities
• Collaborate effectively with third-party/vendor security teams, Port Police, and campus personnel
• Communicate with vendors regarding late deliveries, early work schedules, or operational changes

Warehouse & Property Support Responsibilities:
• Assist with warehouse duties such as moving pallets, loading/unloading materials, and lifting items up to 50 lbs
• Perform basic property upkeep and support onsite operational needs, including deliveries and maintenance tasks
• Participate in forklift training and obtain qualification to operate forklifts safely as required

Qualifications:
• Prior security, warehouse, or maritime experience preferred but not required
• Ability to patrol outdoor waterfront areas, including in variable weather conditions
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating with internal and external teams
• Strong observation, reporting, and communication skills
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Willingness to participate in forklift training and safely operate equipment

Schedule & Compensation:
• Part-time hours (will include evenings and weekends)
• Hourly pay commensurate with experience. Pay range is $24-$25.00/hour
