Location: 100% on the atoll of Tetiaroa, French PolynesiaContract type: Fixed-term contract (6 months, renewable)Working time: Full-timeDear nature and environmental protection enthusiast,Tetiaroa Society is looking for a Ranger to join its on-site team at the heart of Tetiaroa, a unique and emblematic natural site of French Polynesia. As an environmental field technician, you will actively contribute to the preservation of the atoll’s terrestrial and marine ecosystems, the smooth operation of the eco-station, and the welcoming of authorized visitors on site.Main ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Monitoring:- Maintain a regular presence on different motu to prevent illegal or non-compliant activities- Observe, report, and escalate any environmental infractions or anomalies to the Head Ranger- Take part in implementing natural reserve management and protection plansBiodiversity Protection:- Participate in conservation and species monitoring activities (birds, turtles, flora, etc.)- Support scientific teams in field missions- Help maintain sensitive areas (nesting beaches, trails, etc.)Logistical and Technical Support to the Eco-Station:- Perform general maintenance of spaces, equipment, and small repairs- Prepare and secure field missions (boats, equipment, signage)- Ensure cleanliness and functionality of infrastructureVisitor Welcome and Awareness:- Welcome authorized visitors and partners during missions- Explain the conservation goals and raise awareness on rules and regulations- Maintain trails and accessible areas in good conditionSecondary Responsibilities:- Support educational or public events organized by Tetiaroa Society FP- Help promote field activities through social media (photos, observations, etc.)- Contribute to environmental reports, inventories, and data collectionRequired ProfileTechnical Skills (Hard Skills):- Basic knowledge of ecology, environmental science, or biology- Proficient in navigation and orientation tools (GPS, maps)- Familiarity with ecological monitoring protocols (training can be provided)- Comfortable using field communication tools (radio, phone, digital tools)- First aid certification (PSC1 minimum), remote safety training (CPL preferred)- Experience in light maintenance or repair work is a plusSoft Skills (Personal Attributes):- Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and autonomy- Ability to live and work in a remote, isolated environment- Team spirit, loyalty, and discretion- Good interpersonal skills and diplomacy with the public- Physical endurance and resilience to harsh weather conditions- Strong motivation for environmental protection
