Experience and Skills Required
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Stakeholder Management, or similar field, desirable.
- Demonstrated working experience and understanding of ArcGIS or similar mapping software.
- Previous experience working with WordPress.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role (where external and internal communication and stakeholder relationship management were required skills).
- Work experience in the not-for-profit or non-governmental sector preferred.
- A resourceful team player with the ability to work with others.
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to all aspects of work.
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to give and receive feedback and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ to meet the needs of key partners, and flexibility to work after hours when necessary to get the job done.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Valid driver’s license essential. Must be comfortable driving alone.
- Commitment and self-motivation to work within tight deadlines with minimum supervision.
Skills and abilities that would be beneficial.
- Fluency in another African language, such as Swahili, French or Portuguese, or South African language, such as isiZulu, and isiXhosa.
Further Details about the Position
- Duration: Full-time 12-month fixed-term contract, with potential to renew for an additional 3 years.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- Job Grade: Paterson Grade C
- Salary: Competitive, market-based salary offered.
- Location: Gqeberha, South Africa.
