Brief Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on specialist in turtle care to join our Marine Savers team, resident at Four Seasons Resorts in the Maldives. We invite applications from qualified veterinarians with experience of reptile pathology and tropical marine biology.

The Role

• Manage our Turtle Rescue Centre; on-call for rescue and first-aid (surgery and amputations).
• Daily husbandry, develop diet plans, hand-feed turtles, clean & maintain our rehabilitation tanks.
• Conduct research on ‘buoyancy syndrome’; order medications, develop protocols and facilities.
• Continue our international ‘Flying Turtles’ program; conduct public-facing outreach & media interviews.
• Resident on a 5-star island resort, with staff board/lodging and a 1-minute ‘commute’ to work!

The Ideal Candidate

• Veterinary Science qualifications, experienced in reptile pathology & surgery, licensed to practise internationally.
• Knowledge and experience in corals and tropical marine biology preferred.
• Proficient written/spoken English (extra languages desirable); sociable, creative, adaptable.
• Confident swimmer (essential); SCUBA/freediver (preferred); physically fit non-smoker (able to lift 20kg).
