This role will also support outreach, education, and storytelling to communicate ODL’s mission to the world.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate and track the ongoing activities of various global participants in ODL’s projects and activities. Cultivate relationships across diverse communities to provide new opportunities for ocean exploration worldwide.
  • Facilitate conversations to foster relationship building, collaboration, and promote equitable opportunities in the deep-ocean exploration space. This includes strengthening relationships with partners and collaborators and identifying and addressing improvements to working together to authentically support individuals.
  • Organize and manage communication and support with our various project communities including sensors and systems support and troubleshooting requests, pilot ocean fellowship and training communities, and working groups and communities.
  • Conduct orientation and training for community members of the core ODL project areas.
  • Create support materials for training and field experiences of community members.

  • Gather content from field participants and the broader ocean community in the form of blog posts, photos, video, and other media to support communication and outreach efforts.
  • Support the Director of Communications with social media engagement as needed including Instagram, Facebook, and Instagram Stories.
  • Manage a list of ocean conferences related to ODL’s core mission and goals, and attend as an ODL representative as needed and available.
  • Present to potential partners, media outlets, and ocean groups key ODL activities, its mission, and goals as needed.
  • Assist in the distribution of education and outreach materials to classrooms and nonprofits.
  • Serve as an advocate in the ocean community for accessible ocean exploration systems and experiences.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, plus two years of directly-related experience in project management, program management, or other community engagement experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it relates to the essential duties and responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of community organizing and volunteer management.
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build authentic relationships with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and gender backgrounds.
