Duties and responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Identifying research problem with stakeholders;
    • \n
  • Prioritizing research problems for implementation;  
    • \n
  • Developing research concepts; 
    • \n
  • Identifying relevant literature material; 
    • \n
  • Collecting of data in the field;
    • \n
  • Data Analysis;
    • \n
  • Writing appropriate technical reports including research notes, technical notes, conference posters, dissemination flyers;
    • \n
  • Organizing and implementing dissemination activities that include Open days, ASK shows;
    • \n
  • Disseminating research findings in local fora that include seminar, workshops, congress;
    • \n
  • Mentor students on attachment, interns and visitors including High School and Colleges;
    • \n
  • Implementing relevant ISO standards in their departments;
    • \n
  • Compiling departmental quarterly and annual reports;  
    • \n
\n

Requirements for appointment/Persons Specification

\n
    \n
  • Upper second-class Bachelor’s Honors degree or equivalent degree in any of the following fields: Aquatic or Fisheries Sciences, Biological or Physical Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Environmental studies, Geology, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology, Bio-statistics, Marine engineering, Biometrics, Biotechnology; or any other aquatic, fisheries and other relevant disciplines from a recognized University. 
    • \n
  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ (Plus) or equivalent; and
    • \n
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and 
    • \n
  • Meets the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution 
    • \n
\n

  • Good Communication skills;
    • \n
  • Good Interpersonal skills; 
    • \n
  • Good Organizational skills; 
    • \n
  • Good team player; and
    • \n
  • Ability to work under pressure.
